Della, too, was struggling. She had been working extra hours at the local diner to make ends meet, but now she had to sell her beloved long hair. With a heavy heart, she cut off her beautiful long hair and brought it to the hospital, hoping it would be of some use to her ailing mother.
When Jim arrived at the hospital, he was overwhelmed with emotion. He saw his mother in the hospital bed, looking frail and weak, and his heart broke.
